The agreement for the "Project for Human Resource Development," funded by the Japanese Grant to the Maldives, was renewed for a further four years. This agreement falls under the "Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid" (JDS), which provides 24 civil servants from the Maldivian government with the opportunity to pursue a one- or two-year Master’s programme at Japanese universities, fully funded by the Government of Japan.

Over the past four years, 22 students have undertaken higher education under this scheme, from a total of 24 scholarship opportunities offered by the Japanese Government.

The agreement was signed by Minister Dr. Maryam Mariya on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development. Her Excellency Midori Takeuchi, Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, signed on behalf of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
