His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, emphasised that research is the cornerstone of development and progress during his keynote address at the opening ceremony of Theveli International Conference 2024, organised by the Maldives National University (MNU).
In his speech, President Muizzu welcomed participants and award winners, commending their dedication and accomplishments. He praised their passion for learning, encouraging young people to follow their example. The President highlighted the conference’s goal of bringing together intelligent and talented individuals from across the Maldives and around the world to share knowledge, learn new ideas, and contribute to collective growth.
"Today's ceremony celebrates the passion for learning and the teaching of science, which play a vital role in advancing the development of our country and society. Research is the foundation of progress," he remarked.
President Muizzu expressed his gratitude to MNU for organising this impactful, knowledge-driven event and acknowledged the university’s significant contributions to higher education in the Maldives. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting and promoting research, emphasising that collaboration between higher education institutions, the private sector, and international partners will be essential for future progress.
