Australian High Commission and UNICEF Collaborate with Ministry of Health for Mental Health Forum

The Australian High Commission and UNICEF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, conducted a Mental Health Forum on June 10, 2024. The forum, held at Dharumavantha Hospital, was attended by Dr. Mariyam Mariya, the Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development.

Various professionals from the mental health industry participated in the forum, discussing the importance of providing mental health services to those in need. They also addressed the need for forming laws and regulations to ensure mental well-being in collaboration with the government. The forum covered necessary actions to create a safe society and work environment to ensure mental well-being.

In recent years, the Maldives has seen an increase in the number of people suffering from mental health issues. With the help and assistance of WHO, UNICEF, and other related international organizations, the Maldivian government has taken various steps to ensure its citizens' mental well-being.
